About

Italian boy living and eating in San Francisco meets Jewish girl residing and dining in New York City. One meal leads to another and here we are—married for 13+ years and dividing our time between a home in the San Francisco Bay Area New Zealand 233and a wine country property just outside of Healdsburg in Sonoma County, two of the most beautiful, and food- and wine-friendly regions in the world.

Our gastronomic experiences in Northern California, plus plenty of pilgrimages to Manhattan and other delicious destinations across the globe, led to the publication of DISH*, a collection of our favorite dining spots. Read more about it here.

The goal of DISHology is to extend this forum and create a community around shared passions. “Ology” is defined as the “study or science” of a branch of knowledge. It’s also a root word noun that refers to “a collection of writings.”

Our focus is on providing up-to-the-minute, reliable intelligence on all things food and wine with an emphasis on restaurant reviews. Our writings are our opinions and, of course, highly subjective. We’ll talk about what we like and what we think you might like and why. Finally, note that we love words and word origins almost as much as mac and cheese or Pinot Noir. That being said, we will highlight interesting phrases, expressions, and definitions, too. We are DISHologists after all!

Our hope is that not only will you enjoy our tasty tidbits but that you will actively join the conversation. Channeling the spirit of Julia Child, we say ”Bon Appetit”!
