Chef Scott Howard has returned to Marin, opening Brick & Bottle in the former Izzy’s space in Corte Madera. Howard made his initial mark at the much-lauded Fork in San Anselmo, and continues his intense focus on quality and service at B&B, albeit in a more casual and accessible setting.
Serving California comfort food, with lunch, brunch, mid-day, and dinner menus, B&B offers a wide array of menu choices including wood fired pizzas, pastas, sandwiches (the grilled white cheddar and braised short ribs sounds outrageous), mains, appetizers, and salads. While it’s too soon to declare favorites, the deviled Dungeness crab cake and duck confit were stand outs.
There’s a substantial bar that runs the entire length of the restaurant, perfect for those who want a beer and a bite or a cocktail and conversation. The interior is spacious—definitely family-friendly (in fact, SF Eater reported that there’ll be a special counter where children can top their own pizzas)—yet with plenty of nooks and crannies for those who would like to enjoy a quiet dinner for two. B&B offers something for everyone!
